Miranda Sweely, a nurse at St. Luke’s in Duluth, swabbed her cheek 3 years ago, entering herself into the Be the Match National Donor Program for bone marrow donations. This fall, she heard back she was a match, and flew to Washington, D.C., to donate. While becoming more common, finding a match can still take months, and not soon enough for many with forms of leukemia.
