Jordan Greenway and Eric Staal also scored for Minnesota, while Alex Stalock stopped 25 shots. Anthony Mantha scored for Detroit, which has dropped eight of its last nine games.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Darryl Morsell's long 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left capped a furious comeback and allowed No. 9 Maryland to escape Minnesota with a 74-73 win Wednesday night, Feb. 26, at Williams Arena. The Terrapins (23-5, 13-4 Big Ten) kept their two-game lead in the Big Ten standings, overcoming a 17-point deficit with a 10-1 run to end the contest. Jalen Smith, who played just four minutes in the first half because of foul trouble, finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Aaron Wiggins also had 16 points. Morsell had 13 points and nine boards.
MIAMI -- D'Angelo Russell scored 27 points, and Jordan McLaughlin made the go-ahead layup with 8.5 seconds left, leading the supposedly overmatched Minnesota Timberwolves to a 129-126 upset win over the host Miami Heat on Wednesday night, Feb. 26. Entering Wednesday, the Timberwolves had lost 18 of their past 19 games, and Miami was sporting a 23-3 home record. But the Timberwolves used a 16-4 fourth-quarter spurt to get back into the game.
St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester will miss the rest of the season due to the cardiac incident he suffered earlier this month. It remains unclear if the 36-year-old will be able to return to the ice in the future. "There's been a lot going on," Bouwmeester said on Wednesday at a press conference in St. Louis. "(The future) is something I'm definitely going to have to evaluate. Wouldn't say I've done that fully yet. There's decisions I'm going to have to make."

Eric Staal, Ryan Donato and Kevin Fiala each had a goal and an assist for the Wild, who improved to 10-5-1 in their past 16 games to inch closer to the second and final wild-card playoff berth in the Western Conference. Minnesota's Ryan Hartman had two assists, and goaltender Alex Stalock made 24 saves.
DALLAS -- Luka Doncic scored 10 of his 20 points in a 41-point, first-quarter explosion Monday night, Feb. 24, that propelled the host Dallas Mavericks to a 139-123 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite playing just 25 minutes, Doncic also found time for a game-high-tying nine rebounds and seven assists, while Tim Hardaway Jr. poured in a team-leading 23 points for the Mavericks. Dallas rebounded from a 111-107 loss at Atlanta on Saturday, a game in which Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis did not play.
Kobe Bryant's widow, Vanessa, filed a wrongful death suit Monday, Feb. 24 against the company that operated the helicopter that crashed on Jan. 26, killing her husband, 13-year-old daughter and seven others. Vanessa Bryant's lawsuit seeks general damages, economic damages, punitive damages and more, the Los Angeles Times reported. It was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court against Island Express Holding Corp. and Island Express Helicopters.
ST. PAUL -- Oskar Sundqvist scored a goal and set up another as the visiting St. Louis Blues defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-1 on Sunday night, Feb. 23. Jordan Kyrou, Brayden Schenn and Ivan Barbashev also scored for the Western Conference-leading Blues, who have allowed just two goals during a four-game winning streak. Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington made 32 saves to win this third consecutive start. Marcus Foligno scored a goal and Devan Dubnyk stopped 22 of 26 shots for the Wild, who were dealt just their fifth regulation loss in the last 13 games.
