MITCHELL, S.D. -- A former Pine Ridge Indian Health Service pediatrician has been sentenced to five consecutive life sentences for aggravated sexual abuse and three counts of sexual abuse of a minor. Stanley Weber, 71, of Spearfish, was sentenced Monday, Feb. 10, in U.S. District Court. He was convicted following a weeklong jury trial in September in Rapid City.
MOORHEAD — Police are investigating an accidental discharge of a firearm inside a home in Moorhead. The man responsible is recovering from minor injuries associated with the incident and no one else was hurt. Moorhead police said the bullet went through a ceiling but, fortunately, there was no one in the room above. The investigation was sent to the courthouse for potential charges.

GRAND FORKS — A Grand Forks school bus that was dropping students off on Belmont Road was rear-ended around 3:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7.The bus, driven by Brandon Carl, was struck in the back by a 2015 Ford F 150, operated by Albert Giesbrecht. Giesbrecht was transported to Altru Hospital for possible minor injuries and cited for following too close, Grand Forks police said in a news release. None of the bus occupants received any reported injuries, police said.

WINONA, Minn. — Roman Grulkowski entered the Winona High hockey record book in style on Thursday night. The senior forward recorded a natural hat trick in the Winhawks' 11-3 nonconference victory against Black River Falls (Wis.) at Bud King Ice Arena, giving him 97 career points, the most ever by a Winhawks boys hockey player. Grulkowski is in his fourth season on Winona's varsity and he has established personal career bests this season in goals (25), assists (14) and points (39). He had 31 points last year as a junior after tallying 27 total in his first two seasons.
