DWIGHT, N.D. — The driver of a semi truck was injured when his rig collided with a train about 10:55 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, on Richland County Road 10 a mile north of Dwight, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported. According to the report by patrol Sgt. Matthew Denault: Mahamoud Hussein, 30, Minneapolis, was driving his semi truck and trailer eastbound on County Road 10. As the semi approached the railroad crossing north of Dwight, the driver saw a train traveling northwest, but was unable to stop his rig in time.
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - A funeral service for Jacob Wetterling, the boy abducted and killed in 1989, is set for 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. ST. JOSEPH, Minn.—The College of St. Benedict in Jacob Wetterling's hometown of St. Joseph will host a memorial service Sunday for the boy who was abducted 27 years ago and whose body was recovered Sept. 2. The Wetterling Family Memorial Service for Jacob will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday. Oct. 22 was proclaimed "Jacob Wetterling Day" in Minnesota by Gov. Mark Dayton on Friday. That day will mark the 27th anniversary of Jacob's abduction.
WASHINGTON - Federal agencies have scheduled a listening session and tribal consultations in six regions of the country in response to concerns raised by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's challenge of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The U.S. Departments of the Army, Interior and Justice on Friday invited representatives from all 567 federally recognized tribes to participate in formal, government-to-government consultation on how federal review of infrastructure projects can better allow for timely and meaningful tribal input.
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — A state grand jury has indicted a man on first-degree premeditated murder for the death of his father in Fergus Falls earlier this year. The indictment, filed Tuesday, Sept. 21, in Otter Tail County District Court, is in addition to a second-degree murder charge against 29-year-old Dustin Michael Defiel, who is accused of fatally shooting his father Ricardo Defiel on June 1. An initial appearance on the new charge is scheduled for Friday.
DULUTH, Minn. - The Hollywood gossip machine set its sights on the Northland on Thursday, amid reports that Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their kids stopped at the International Falls airport just a day before the couple separated. Pitt, Jolie and their family flew into a Minnesota airport on Sept. 14 — and gossip website TMZ, citing unnamed sources, reported that the stop came after Pitt became verbally and physically abusive to his children while on the private flight from France to the U.S.

GRAND FORKS, N.D.—Tickets to see the previously announced Eric Church concert early next year in Grand Forks will go on sale Sept. 30, the Ralph Engelstad Arena announced Wednesday. Grand Forks is one of more than 60 cities that are part of the "Holdin' My Own" tour, which will make a stop at The Ralph on Jan. 15. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 30.
