WASHINGTON — U.S. Sens. John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer, both R-North Dakota, expressed support for a proposed North American trade agreement after it passed the Senate on Thursday, Jan. 16. Senators approved the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement by an overwhelming 89-10 margin. If President Donald Trump and Canada's parliament approve the deal, it will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement. Trump campaigned on getting rid of NAFTA and instituting an agreement more favorable to American workers and companies.
BISMARCK — A Dickinson-based company has been awarded a mammoth government contract to build part of President Donald Trump's proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. U.S. Sens. Kevin Cramer and John Hoeven, both R-N.D., announced Monday, Dec. 2, that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded Fisher Sand and Gravel a nearly $400 million contract to design and build 31 miles of physical barriers along the border in Yuma, Ariz.
MEDORA, N.D. — The president of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation will lead fundraising efforts for the proposed Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. Randy Hatzenbuhler will head efforts to raise $100 million to unlock a $50 million public endowment that was approved in 2019 by the state Legislature. Although a tall task lies ahead for the Mandan native, library CEO Ed O'Keefe called Hatzenbuhler the foundation's "most valuable player" and said he's thrilled to add the veteran fundraiser's touch to the project.
